Blood Bound

Blood Bound

by Patricia Briggs

Pros: I love the characters
Cons: I cant think of any cons… to be honest. You can read ‘Moon Called’ first, but don’t have to.

Mercy Thompson is an average woman. Living her own life, blissfully unaware of the dangers lurking everywhere around her. She is set in a world similar to the’ Anita Blake’ series of Laurell K Hamilton… where fantastic creatures exist and are in the process of ‘coming out’. I always love female characters who are not weak and who take charge of their own destiny…this book is no exception.
There are also romantic interests that are carried over from ‘Moon Called’ and even some tense moments with an ex-boyfriend that are exciting. The synopsis on the back of the book, seems kind of hokey but this series is excellent. It took me a long time to buy the books because I assumed that it was only a young persons novel, (even though it was in the adult section…) I was happy to find out that anyone can read it and enjoy it. I can’t wait for the next book in the series to come out. Patricia Briggs is now among my short list of favorite authors, along with: LK Hamilton, Charlaine Harris and Kim Harrison. In short, if youre not sure if you’ll like it, my advice is give it a chance.

I first learned of Patricia Briggs through a fantastic book of short stories she was a part of called “On the Prowl”. I loved mostly all the authors that were a part of this book, even though I usually don’t like short stories I’ve since learned that it is a great way to find new authors in the same genre, that you will love, without having to pay for a brand new book sight unseen. If you read ‘Moon Called’ and ‘Blood Bound’ and still want more (like I did) then buy “On the Prowl”.
